normal and smp kernel

The smp kernel is for use on systems with multiple processors (which may
include hyperthreading processors). The non-smp kernel will only use one
processor no matter how many processors a system has.

If you already have an smp kernel, use that one:

$ rpm -q kernel-smp

If that comes back "package kernel-smp is not installed" then install
the non-smp kernel, otherwise the smp kernel.
