you cant run strace on a shell file, 
by the output of the sh -x you gave before it does not look like the 
/etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init
do any thing else than remove the pid file and then run the 
/opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote (this is a directory??)
i think running strace on that command will give you more information.
