How to *update* a Fedora Core 3 component program?

In fact, this might be the first thing you want to do on a fresh FC3
install. Somewhere along the line, yum learned how to resume aborted
downloads. This can save you a lot of grey hair when trying to update
monstrosities like openoffice.org-i18n and the like.
