Tank's for the answer, but that is not my problem. I want to install as root, 
and the rpm package is located in /tmp. But perhaps rpm want to install the 
package into a directory that doesn't exist. However, in such a case I would 
expect an error message instead of a segmentation fault without a core dump 
and without any message written to the console or /var/log/messages.
