   Yes, just waded through that, thanks.  So, rc.local it is.

   Does someone want reports like this?  A post from Alan Cox implied they 
wanted to know when hdparm defaults were wrong, and I can't see why my DVD-ROM 
drive /ought/ to be not using DMA.
