Unable to lgin to gnome after sound server activate

While I believe you that you can't login at gdm any longer, I have some
doubts that one has to do with the other.
Are you able to login at console (Ctrl+Alt+F1)? Run "authconfig" command
to make sure the settings are proper. Maybe you try to graphically login
as root (which would be bad anyway) and you disabled that possibility in
gdm setup.
