updates: how to receive warnings on new updates ?

I'm sure there's a more elegant way of doing this but I have cron running this every night:

/usr/bin/yum -R 120 -e 0 -d 0 -y check-update | grep "updates-released\|base"

just grep for whatever repos you use.
