5 1/4 inch diskettes had either 8, 9, or 15 sectors, and were single or 
double sided. 

160K  1 side 8 sectors / track 40 tracks
180K  1 side 9 sectors / track 40 tracks
320K  2 sides 8 sectors / track 40 tracks
360K  2 sides 9 sectors / track 40 tracks
1.2M  2 sides 15 sectors/ track 80 tracks

I recall one format of the older 8" diskettes that had 26 sectors, but 
don't recall any more specifics. 

This link has some info, but didn't notice a break down of the sectors 
beyond the boot sector, and then there are two copies of the FAT.

I recall using these floppies on my 1983 HeathKit computer.
