Kate questions

I have been using Kate (KDE advanced text editor) for managing my
websites. There seems to be some functionality that is either missing,
or I am not understanding how to do it. In the files browser, how can
I create new files, and erase old ones? I see how to create folders,
but not files. Thanks?
