5 inch floppies, RESOLVED

I didn't tell the BIOS that I had a 5 inch floppy
because my options were 3.5 inch and none.

mtools did the job anyway.  I should have thought of them sooner.

>From other responses, the reason I could read the directory,
but not other data is probably that the incorrectly
autodetected filesystem had a compatible directory format.
mtools was smarter.
