Winamp for Linux

i may seem like an idiot for asking this question but how do you watch tv on 
any computer without a tv card. by this do you mean downloading a copy of tv 
shows and watching them like any movie file ?

as for helping you with the anwser i second wht Neil said when i watch 
videos i use Xine.
