Need to use 2.6.12 series kernel with FC5

Dear all,

I've been using colinux (http://colinux.sf.net) to run FC4 for quite a
while. Once FC5 was released, I promptly upgraded -- only to find udev
complaining that the colinux kernel (2.6.12) was too old for this
version of udev. As a result, none of the required device nodes got
created and I had an unusable system on my hands. Eventually, I did
manage to get to a root shell and downgraded udev to that from FC4
updates (+ hotplug). This solved the problem and FC5 will boot. So far
so good...

My question is, are there any potential problems I should watch out
for? I only need udev to create the block devices -- since I obviously
won't be adding any "other" hardware to it.

Accroding to the coLinux developers, the major problem that they have
right now is that after 2.6.12, the base memory management in the
kernel was changed; and since coLinux relied on the older method it is
proving to be quite a challenging to move on to newer kernels. The
coLinux project is quite nice since it runs at speeds very similar to
(or faster than) vmware. But right now, they only have 2 active
developers -- if anyone one is interested, I'm sure they could use the
help.
