CUPS error: "lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found"

Hi all,

My printer spontaneously stopped working. Printing a test page from
printer configuration returns this error message:

"lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found"

I tried deleting and recreating the printer profile, even removing
cups with rpm -e --nodeps and reinstalling it with yum to no avail.

A Google search returns various hits, including a post on this list
from last August,

but nowhere a clear answer.

No, it is not a firewall issue; the printer is connected locally and I
don't have iptables running.

Suggestions anyone?

I am running FC5, the printer is a Lexmark USB
