Ripping FC5 DVD to iso file

I've got an FC5 DVD and would like to recreate the ISO file from it. What's 
the proper way to do that? I tried "dd if=/dev/hda of=FC5-x86_64-DVD.iso" 
but I get an "Input/Output error" and the file is only 188 MBytes, 
obviously way too small. What else do I need to tell dd to extract an 
image? (I'll be checking the SHA1SUM against that posted in the wiki. The 
DVD was originally created from the torrent download advertised there.)
