FC5 - "The Greeter application seems to be crashing"

The real problem here is that /etc/sysconfig/desktop is blank.
I had this after the recent updates, and discovered that there was nothing
defined in /etc/sysconfig/desktop.

Adding:
DISPLAYMANAGER=GNOME

cured the problem.
