FC5 and VPN

I'm having an issue with VPN connections and FC5
  

1)  I'm having problems with compiling on 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5-i686

/vpn_install

Automatically start the VPN service at boot time [yes]

In order to build the VPN kernel module, you must have the
kernel headers for the version of the kernel you are running.

[/lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2096_FC5/build]

* Binaries will be installed in "/usr/local/bin".
* Modules will be installed in
"/lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2096_FC5/CiscoVPN".
* The VPN service will be started AUTOMATICALLY at boot time.
* Kernel source from "/lib/modules/2.6.16- 1.2096_FC5/build" will be
used to build the module.

Is the above correct [y]

2) When using NetworkManager-vpnc the options for my vpn connections are
present when I'm wired or wireless.  When I switch to using my cell
phone as a modem thru edge(it acts as a dialup modem on ppp0)  the vpn
connections are greyed out.  They only work on an ethernet or wireless
connection but not on dialup.
