50 gig slash went from 25 gig to 50 gigs- full over night

Perhaps you forgot to mount the new partition before copying things over
to it? Then you mounted it, found nothing there and copied it over
again. That would leave you with a lot of files "hidden" under the
mounted directory.

OK.....   Now, how not to lose anything cleaning this up...  This may be it.
