yum cannot find a valid baseurl for repo

You're behind a proxy?
If it is so... then you have to define it in /etc/yum.conf

proxy=http://ADDRESS_TO_YOUR_PROXY:PROXY_PORT

If not, then you must unable the $PROXY var (or something like that), to 
avoid the proxy.

i have a dual boot machine , in windows XP i ping yahoo and this is the answer:

if i was behind  proxy it would not work .please tell me more about unable the $PROXY var
