Restart soundcard

Hi all,
  Sometimes, I'll fire up my Linux box and it won't detect the 
soundcard. As such I can't play any audio.
Usually I reboot and it works again next boot.

What can I run on the command-line to avoid a complete reset?

I have an Audigy 2 PCI card... When I run system-config-soundcard, it 
just says it can't detect it.
Looking at the log, I'm wondering if it's picking up the USB mic on my 
webcam?
