Yum "freezing" keyboard/mouse -

I have an FC-5 computer last updated about a week ago.

Now yum update goes as far as starting to "Setting up repositories"


and then at:

atrpms     : ################################         515/654

Everything stops and I lose control, can't do anything from the 
keyboard, have to press the reset button to reboot.

I don't know what to try next?  I have never had any problems with yum 
... it has always worked without problems.
