Yum "freezing" keyboard/mouse -

I didn't find any clue in the log messages but I did shut the box down 
and pulled out the three memory strips and reseated each in turn. 
Switched power back on and it is presently updating 75 packages.  Did I 
fix anything?  I don't know but it appears to be working normally again.
