I had that experience, too.

XDMCP must be running and enabled on the remote machine.  Login to the 
remote machine and go to "Desktop->System Settings->Login Screen" and 
select the XDMCP tab and checkmark "Enable XDMCP".  You will have to be 
root to make the changes.
