 I may have fixed the problem by removing fast mirror
 i removed it from my laptop and it seems to be working now
 it is updating as we speak with out any problems.
  I am going to try it on my main box when i get furnished with this 
email.
{ my laptop just installed all updates with no problem}.  I will try 
your  # also.
 Back to using Fedora core 5 yea haw
 sometime using windowsZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
