Anne,
Try this, create two aliases on your .bashrc:
alias gumount='gnome-mount -u -d /dev/sda1'
alias gmount='gnome-mount -d /dev/sda1'
Just replace /dev/sda1 with teh /dev/whatever your system uses for the usb pen drive. Log off and back on and you'll have it!
