firefox url dropdown?

Is there a way to control the sort order of the history in the url bar
dropdown in firefox?  It seems to display them in the order that they
were first used (oldest last), keeping them there as long as you use
them every so often.  The result is that if you visit sites early and
often, their entries are pushed to the bottom of the list where they are
the hardest to select.   Also, can you get rid of typos in this list?
I found some things about the full history list that you can display
on the sidebar, but not much about the dropdown.
