The last I tried a stock kernel it read AFFS right out of the box as
long as the disk was not dual formatted. If it's dual formatted the
fdisk partitioning will be found first and nothing subsequently finds
the ffs partitioning to mount it. I built in the capability for the
two formattings to live together on the disk when I did the old RDPrepX
utility and maintained it into the 3.5 et subs hdwrench.library. I did
not "recommend" doing that, generally for the reasons you may be
experiencing. You will have to "read" the Amiga partitioning information
yourself, probably starting at block three, decode it, and mount the
affs partition manually. I believe affs includes the capability to
specify the partitioning information in the mount command. You might
check on that with "man mount".
