Problem configuring network & Strange problem with LAN

Internal - at least pulling the network wire had no effect.

I also tried using a different kernel, the oldest one I still have is 
2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6.  The kernel that I usually use is 2.6.20-1.2933?
