If you are looking at one or a few remote X connections you might like 
freenx on the server and the NX client you can download from 
http://www.nomachine.com/.  It has several advantages over traditional X 
  including the ability to suspend a session and reconnect, and good 
performance over low bandwidth connections.  If you are considering a 
larger scale school setup you should probably look at
http://www.k12ltsp.org/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page and perhaps use the 
k12ltsp distribution which adds some educational programs and the 
ability to boot thin clients to an otherwise normal fedora.
