I'm not sure what you mean.  I tried:
  cd /mnt
  chmod go-rwx cdrom
and then mounted the disk.  It didn't work.
What I am doing is using a disk file as an RSA key for:
   ssh-add /mnt/cdrom/myKey
ssh-add looks at the permissions of myKey and "... ignores
identity files if they are accessible by others".
