Display shutting down on first boot

Problem#3 with installing Fedora 7:

After the first boot setup screen, in which one defines a user, I got
a message similar to this:
The display server has been shut down about 6 times in the last 90
seconds. It is likely that something bad is going on. Waiting for 2
minutes before trying again on display :0.

After clicking OK, I got the message again after a few minutes of a
blank screen.

This is on a Dell Inspiron laptop, Duo Core Intel, 2GB RAM, ATI X1400 video.
