Remember that hardware standards in computers tend to change relatively
rapidly.  You should always check to insure that your computer has the
necessary ports, slots or whatever is required to support new equipment before
making a purchase.

Hardware compatibility issues loom larger and become even more important as your
existing equipment gets older.
