New kernel update breaks wireless

This brings up an interesting point. I try to provide pertinent 
information without overdoing it. I find that if I include too much info 
and my note gets too long, people don't read it. In this case, I was 
hoping the environmental variable SIOCSIFFLAGS would be the key piece of 
information.
