I am so embarrassed!

I should have checked that first.

I had taken my computer out on my concrete porch to
install a dvd reader someone gave me. I forgot to
plug the speakers back in - duh!

So sound works!

Thank you for stating the obvious as it surely wasn't
obvious to me.
