I yummed chkrootkit and ran it and it found no rootkit so it is not
the problem.

A few months ago I had the unfortunancy of not being able to work with
my Notebook and a projector which was connected to the video output.
The thing was that, or I had the LCD screen to see, or the I had to see
on the screen of the projector.
How can I make my NVidia card work with both? Do I have to configure a
dual head.
I'm on F7 with livna nvidia drivers.

Grub can't do software RAID...that's an OS thing. Your /boot partition
MUST be on a either a hardware RAID or a single drive.
You can use a software RAID1 for /boot, but that's only because both
drives' content will be identical and you're cheating by only using
one of the pair. Just make sure you don't write anything to /boot
in grub...the software RAID1 must be functional before any writes occur
or you will make the RAID1 unmountable as the drives will diverge in
content.

Add these to /etc/sysconfig/iptables (before the -j REJECT line)
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m udp -p udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
Make sure you insert those before the -j DROP or -j REJECT rule.

I have downloaded the DVD iso image, and copied it to a filesystem that I
export over NFS, so I can now build my machines with FC8 using kickstart
over NFS.
Now I would like to upgrade my Packages directory with the newer versions,
as well as get the extra packages. Is there a way to do that with rsync ?
Is one of the fedora project server (or a mirror) running an rsync daemon ?
What's the alternative for doing this ?

Use a filter, like the ones that come with most email clients, or just
use procmail.

Have you rebooted/power cycled the box? Looking at the network scripts,
that message comes from an arping poke and that's pretty definitive.
Try changing the IP address in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
to something fairly high (say 192.168.1.200) and see if it'll come up
via "service network restart". If it does, then try pinging 192.168.1.6
and see if something really does have that address. It may be that the
address was handed out by a DHCP server on your network.
If that is indeed the case, find the DHCP server and see what its
address pool is. You should choose a fixed IP that's outside that pool
or this will happen again.
You could resort to having eth0 use DHCP by deleting the "IPADDRESS="
and "NETMASK=" lines in the file above and changing the "BOOTPROTO="
line to "BOOTPROTO=dhcp". The normal network stuff handles DHCP just
fine. Example /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 for DHCP:

ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
USERCTL=no
PEERDNS=yes
IPV6INIT=no
