When the resolution problem occurred the fist time I reinstalled FC6 and 
saved xorg.conf, when I compared the files there was no change the file 
below is the out of the box configuration and about 75 % of the time 
when I boot and log in I get the "wrong" resolution the first time 
subsequent log ins are all the "correct" resolution which is also the 
default monitor resolution.
