Connecting an extra computer to Internet

That OK, the switch solution would be (if it works):

A single ethernet cable from the modem to the switch.

An ethernet cable from eacn PC to the switch.

So the swicthc would be the only device with multiple cables, and if the
switch has n sockets, you could connect n - 1 PCs.
