Why does yum want to install kernel i586 2.6.21-1.3194.fc7fedora 15 M

Try running:

 rpm -q --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} %{ARCH}" kernel kernel-devel

This should help identify which i586 RPM might have been loaded.

No i586 kernel got installed.  It is just that yum wants to install it.  Here's the information you have requested

[olivares at localhost ~]$ rpm -q --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} %{ARCH}" kernel kernel-devel
kernel-2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 i686kernel-2.6.21-1.3226.fc7 i686kernel-2.6.22.1-27.fc7 i686kernel-devel-2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 i686kernel-devel-2.6.21-1.3226.fc7 i686kernel-devel-2.6.22.1-27.fc7 i686[olivares at localhost ~]$
