FC6 on AMD Dual Core

All,

I have been running on FC6 on a AMD Dual Core laptop (1GB RAM) with
nvidia chipset with SATA drive with 64 bit Kernel. I have also running
FC6 on a Intel P4 desktop (1GB RAM). The issue is that i think the
laptop performance is much slower than the desktop because
application(s) take a little longer to open on the laptop and the vmware
(same image) runs much faster on desktop than the laptop. I was
expecting the laptop to run faster as it is dual core machine.
Wondering where to look for any clues.
