How to update Windows DNS server with Linux DHCP client hostname?

I have spoken with him, and we've explored the questions you've
raised, to no avail.  He's willing to configure his DHCP server to do
the dynamic update, which is what he has to do for Win98 clients (do
we really have those?  Well, that's what he said he does for Win98
clients, but I digress.)

I have now officially reached the point of, "I just want to understand
what's going on, why it's not working, and to fix what's broke."  At
the end of the day, I'll probably run out of time/patience and take
him up on his offer, but it just seems wrong to ask him to manually
make changes that should be automated, _especially_ when one is
working from an open source code base.  (The flaw in that last
sentence is that I'm trying to interface with a closed source code
base in the Win2003 servers, but I still feel like this should work.)

At the moment, I've noticed that the dhclient shipped on the FC6 CD
(3.0.4-21) has an update available (3.0.5-4).  So I'm going to go down
that route as soon as I can figure out why yum and our corporate
firewall don't play well together.
