printing from FC to a HP 1020 on Windows XP

Recently I asked a question, but it was the wrong question so I did not
get a useful answer.

My wife has an HP 1020 Laser Printer on her XP machine. I would like to
print to it from my Fedora machines. How can I do this?

I tried various ways but did not succeed. For example:
1. Should I define it in the CUPS web page as a smb printer? What should
the line look like.

2. What type of printer do I say it is when that question comes up?

3. And anything else that would be worth knowing.
