x86_64 Vs. i386

I realize I'd have to do a clean install.  At least I put my /home on a 
separate disk partition so I don't have to wipe that partition.

The hardware is a Intel motherboard  (DG965RY) with 2 GB of memory and a 
2.8Ghz Pentium D processor.
