Not exactly. I said I do it without "major" backups. The home folder is 
the only backup that I take. Firefox and Thunderbird settings are the 
only restores that I do. When I went from 5 to 6, using the old home 
folder kind off hosed my new Gnome profile, so I don't do that any more. 
Rest of the stuff in my home are symlinks to /data anyways.
