Imagine the confusion if it read
growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=big.cpio
Now, a cpio would be interesting, given that the kernel's initrd is a
cpio file these days.
[1] One of the radio people has the habit of saying "Correct," in a
similar way to others' use of "Absolutely." Some of the others have been
catching it, probably unawares.

Re-installing the driver overwrote the Mesa supplied /usr/lib/libGL. In
that directory do 'ls -la libgl*' you'll spot the linked files which
should point to your master libGL file with your version number. You
might also spot the now-abandoned libGL mesa master file, it'll be
linked by nothing. Mine is libGL.so.100.14.11 which is the version of
NVidia that I am using now. Same with your libGLcore. I believe this is
the horse that threw ya. Ric

If you need to archive things long term, then you really do need to keep
the playback system, as well, and convert to a new storage system from
time to time. That means keeping an eye out for when a medium is going
to become unfeasible, and convert beforehand. That includes the ability
of your own equipment to keep on working, or using someone else's to
read your data.
e.g. The demise of floppies was evident a number of years ago, anybody
who had valuable information on them really needed to move the data to
something else a while ago.

I think they'd all *have* to, unless they were only ever intended for
single-layer data use only. DVD-video has been the biggest user of DVD

I'm having the same problem. Interestingly, my /usr/lib/vmware/net-services.sh doesn't have

so the patch failed there. It did have

fi
But it still is failing and demanding to rerun vmware-config.pl after every reboot (which works, but is annoying)
Any ideas?

There are a number of tools available for these things under linux.
(Though they may not all be able to do everything you mention (easily)).
I am partial to R.
Was always able to make nice professional graphs (2D,3D) with it.

But I don't see the point. Maybe it would be better utilised as
ext3/reiserfs/zfs/other fs journal device, similarly to NVRAM
cache in storage arrays?
Maybe as device for Jens' Axboe fscache? Or for caching HDD using
cachefs (or how this is called nowadays)?
Adding PCI Express card for swap seems like overkill.

AFAIR FC6 shipped with GNOME 2.16 while F8 has GNOME 2.20.
A lot of features were added between the two releases... I'd venture and
guess that one of these features/bugs broke your Xinerama support.
Granted, I have the same /home since F2... but KDE did really change
much since ~F4. (Minor 3.5.x releases)
Most likely I'll have to rebuild my configuration from scratch once KDE4
is released.

lines messages) in the log files is the system that doesn't work has the

The kernel is a custom kernel and is identical for both systems. Do you
