	Like someone else suggested.... save your critical files, and reload the OS. Then secure your system before reconnecting to the network. If you're serious about doing any post-intrusion analysis, save the original drive, and rebuild on a new drive. (System forensics is beyond the scope of this email, and is sure to raise it's own lively thread)

	Don't blindly restore the files you saved... In the case of your /home directory, you might want to restore the files to an alternative location, then selectively copy stuff. If the hacker screwed with your Gnome/Firefox/etc settings you don't want to re-infect yourself
