I have an interface dev6273 on my laptop listed by ifconfig,
which I am finding very difficult to get rid of.
I don't understand why it persists,
as there is no mention of "dev6273" anywhere
in /etc, /var/lib or /var/run .
[It is referred to in /sys and /proc ,
but I assume this arises from its existence
rather than the other way round.]
The interface was created about a month ago,
when I was in a different country,
and connected the laptop by ethernet to a router.
It is mentioned quite often in /var/log/messages,
always in connection with NetworkManager, eg
-------------------------------
Oct 15 00:35:30 carrie NetworkManager: <info> dev6273: Device is
fully-supported using driver 'tg3'.
Oct 15 00:35:30 carrie NetworkManager: <info> Now managing wired Ethernet
(802.3) device 'dev6273'.
Oct 15 00:35:30 carrie NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device dev6273.
-------------------------------
It doesn't do any harm.
I just wonder if it will ever go away ...
