I recently cloned a fc6 system to a new partition. I
used "cp -arx / /mnt/new" after making a partition on
the new disk, making a file system on the partition,
labeling it( I called it "main" because there are too
many "roots" and "/" 's around), and mounting it on
/mnt/new. After the copy, I had to fiddle with
grub.conf to make a new stanza to start the new system
and with fstab on the new system to mount the proper
partition and /boot. I then did a "yum upgrade"
Mine is a somewhat confused system that you may not
want. I have the base grub in the MBR of sda, a /boot
partition on the sda, My main system on sdb with the
sda /boot partition mounted and with a swap on sdb and
a leftover fc6 syatem on LogVol00 on sda.
There is also an XP system and a Win98 system and they
all boot.
This may give you some things to think about.
my system is an example of a favorite old saying of
mine "If you don't know where you are going you may
arrive somewhere else"
