OK, here is where I am (going into the weekend):
I've re-installed Fedora Core 6 - partially.
It has gotten to the first boot and failed (after this boot, is where
you process the Firewall, SELinux, a regular User, and Sound, etc.)
with a 'Out Of Range' message.
Here is what I plan to do:
Re-boot and modify so that it boots to run level 3 by altering the
Grub process.
Log on as root and run system-config-display.
Using nano, update the Modes and Horiz/Vert information (Viewsonic
VA550 = 1024x768 NI; Horiz: 30-62 kHz; Vert: 50-75 Hz).
Make sure that the driver is vesa.
Reboot and hope for Phase 2 of the install to continue.
I need to verify that the following is in xorg.conf:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
ModelName "Viewsonic VA550"
HorizSync 30.0 - 62.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 75.0
Option "dpms"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "vesa"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection
If someone sees anything wrong with this plan or the xorg.conf, please stop
me before I start!
Thanks,
