fc6 nearing eol but f7 not useable yet (rant or feedback?)

Agreed.  It ought to be possible to right-click on menu item and edit
that item, or just read its details, directly.  Not have to go back to
the start, open the menu editor, then find your way through to a
particular item.

If I want to find out what's on a menu, I found the easiest solution was
to drag a copy of an item from the menu to the desktop or taskbar, and
open the properties, there.  But it's still more mucking around than
should be needed.

On the menus, items should have the program title, not just a
description.  There is more than one instant messenger, web browser,
word processor, image viewer, music player, etc., program that we could
install.  The entry should use the name, and optionally display hints
and other details.

e.g. Menu item:  OpenOffice.org word processor
     Pop-up hint:  Write and edit documents

I found the "add/remove programs" thing to be fairly decent (not
brilliant, just fair), but the "software updater" to be dire.

I can't say that I've seen that, other than when I've accidentally
clicked and dragged it across the screen.

I seem to recall that the default always was to lock them in position
(which I, too, found a pain).  But moving them around, once unlocked,
worked fine.

Can't say that I've seen this, either.  Have you just done one install,
and discovered these problems?  Or have you tried installing again, and
found it wasn't just a once-off stuff up?

Agreed.  The short name is daft, and renaming a product is also daft.
