I would recommend http://www.linuxchix.org/, in spite of the sexist
name and introductory paragraph. They tend to have clear, low-jargon
write-ups, just the thing for a new user.

You mentioned elsewhere that this is for your Toastmasters chapter. A
lot of Toastmasters use slide presentations; you might mention OOo
Presentation and some of the other slide preparation tools available.
