Think of chroots... GRUB's "root" is where it starts out from. There's
a root parameter for the kernel (it is *for* the kernel, it's not for
GRUB), and that is the system root.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5. Today, it's FC7.
